Nathji

01/01 in the World

The keeper of Govardhan.

A carved, hand-painted box in blue and gold with a copper name plate, holding the Nathji pen, a hand-painted inkwell, a bookmark and a gilded pen stand.

The story

Nathji, the keeper of Govardhan, is Krishna as he is worshipped at Nathdwara, one arm raised to lift the hill. The bookmark shows that raised arm, painted by hand.

The box is carved in relief with a sweeping bird in gold over deep blue. Inside lie the hand-painted Nathji pen, a blue hand-painted inkwell, the bookmark and a gilded, sculpted pen stand.

Every piece is painted and finished by hand, so no two sets are quite the same.
